Leland Yeager, a professor of economics (emeritus) at Auburn University, Auburn, Alabama, recently came out with a new book, Ethics as Social Science: The Moral Philosophy of Social Cooperation. Published as part of Edward Elgar's "New Thinking in Political Economy" series, this book draws heavily from the Objectivist ethics, citing both Ayn Rand and TOC's executive director, David Kelley, in numerous places.

Though recently released, Yeager's book is receiving much attention in the academic community. Already a review of it has appeared in the Times Literary Supplement.

Navigator will publish a brief review of Ethics as Social Science in a forthcoming issue. Additionally, TOC's manager of research and training, William Thomas will write a comprehensive review of the book for the Journal of Ayn Rand Studies. Navigator's assistant editor, Donald J. Cooper II, recently attended a May 25-27 colloquium in Marina del Rey, California, sponsored by the Institute for Civil Society. Centered around various persisting social topics in classical liberalism such as secession, privacy, and non-territorial governments, the discussions were led by: John Tomasi, a professor of political science at Brown University; John Majewski a professor of history at the University of California-Santa Barbara; and Tom Bell, a professor of law at Chapman Law School.

Aside from Cooper and the aforementioned faculty, eight others actively participated in the weekend's discussions, including students from West Point, Brown University, the University of Chicago School of Law, and the University of Toronto.
