An Actor’s Journey, Part II: Motivating the SceneAn Acting Demonstration of Purpose & Commitment
The techniques that actors use to create full, rich, interesting characters for the stage can be used by all of us to bring an increased richness and vitality to our daily life. As an actor prepares to work on a scene, he usually begins by asking himself some basic questions: What is my purpose or objective? What do I want? Why do I want it? What’s at stake? What obstacles are in my way and how will I overcome them? What action will I take? The way an actor works on answering these questions and choosing actions in a scene can have relevance for all of us.
This improvisational workshop participants will have an opportunity to practice some of these techniques by participating in an improvisational scene. This workshop is limited to 16 participants, first come-first served.
Ms. Robinson is a theatrical producer, director, and teacher with a background in psychology and a Masters of social work.
